Some Common
Causes Of Cystic Acne
The most severe type of acne that people dread
is cystic acne and many people wish to know more about the
causes of cystic acne. Cystic acne refers to large, extremely
painful pus filled boils that measure about 5 mm across. They
may occur on the face and trunk and as they are deep-rooted
cysts the chances for permanent marks and scars is greater.
People are offered a variety of treatment options as well as
scar removal treatments.
A Few Facts About The Causes Of Cystic
Acne
There are times when hormonal imbalances occur
causing the body to produce more hormones than they should.
This in turn can have adverse reactions that can cause problems
like acne. When there are excessive hormones in the body, the
oil glands tend to produce more sebum than is necessary to keep
the skin healthily moisturized. The excessive sebum clogs hair
follicles and when bacteria infects these clogged follicles it
can result in painful, large, deep rooted, pus filled cysts
that are unsightly to look at and that leave deep scars.
Hormonal imbalances occur during puberty,
menstruation, while using birth control pills, during pregnancy
and during menopause. It is at such times that people have to
deal with the cystic acne. One of the main causes of cystic
acne is of course heredity. Parents who suffered from cystic
acne should watch out, as their children are more prone to
suffer from the same condition.
Stress and depression is also said to be one of
the factors that may cause cystic acne but there are no
definite proof. Certain medications that contain lithium and
others such as anabolic steroids may also cause cystic acne as
side effects.
Oil based creams and make up, excessive use of
moisturizers, harsh scrubbing and excessive cleaning are also
attributed to causing cystic acne. If you do use such synthetic
products moderation is advised and medicated, mild soaps are to
be used. Make sure your face is clean and free of any residual
make up before you go to sleep. Excessive sweating and poor
personal hygiene may also be one of the causes of cystic
acne.
Aggravating a pimple by squeezing or pinching
it may lead to a more irritating and painful cystic acne. Skin
friction due to constant pressure from helmets or bands etc.
may also be possible causes of cystic acne.
People who are food sensitive may also be prone
to cystic acne due to a badly planned diet. Foods such as dairy
products that are rich in fats, chocolates etc. may be
aggravators of cystic acne in some cases.
It is important to keep the skin clean
especially after exposure to environmental and industrial
pollutants. Cystic acne may occur as a side effect of being
exposed to toxic chemicals too, so take necessary precautions
when your work conditions entail contact with such
chemicals.
There are many causes but the main fact to be
noted is that it is a condition that needs medical treatment.
There are many treatments available, from medication with drugs
that can have side effects but that are effective to natural
cures that are effective with no side effects of any kind. Some
medications may work wonders and require just one course of the
medication, but at times a second treatment may be warranted.
The actual causes of cystic acne are not yet very clear but the
above causes may be contributing factors.
