Teenage Acne
Problems - Every Growing Kid's Nightmare
Every morning you wake up and look at the
mirror dreading that your most horrifying nightmare might have
come true. Most days you smile after seeing your face in the
mirror, but some days you scream in dismay. That thing you
dread the most is pulsating on the tip of your nose. We are
talking about every teenager's nightmare; the teenage acne
problems.
Teenage acne problems are common and
unfortunately stay all through your teens. Teenage is also the
time when the body is going through various physical and mental
changes. Physical changes also cause a lot of havoc with the
hormones in the body. Any kind of hormonal imbalance in the
body causes pigmentation.
The hormonal imbalance in the body causes the
glands to produce oil and in teenagers the oil production is
excessive. When the glands situated close to the hair pores or
follicles produce excessive oil, unless cleaned they tend to
collect dirt and grime. This dirt then results in acne.
Acne is also a result of bacteria feeding and
breeding on the excessive oil in the pores. This bacterium
infects the skin and inflames the area. The inflamed area
collects pus and thus we see acne pustules.
To add to the already stressed skin, teenagers
also start experimenting with cosmetics during their teens.
Boys are the worst affected by acne since their skin is rougher
and prone to more grime than girls. Unfortunately while girls
can at least try and cover up their acne with cosmetics, boys
don't have that option either.
What Should I Avoid?
Avoid being stressed about acne. During
adolescence your body is changing and hence the hormonal
imbalance. This is not going to stay forever. Once you cross
your teens, acne will not bother you as much. This is a change
that most teens go through, just accept it and move on. Don't
let acne or its related scars worry you.
Avoid getting a tan. This just makes the area
around the acne more tender and would probably result in the
acne spreading. Just let the acne or pimple be and take its own
course.
Avoid cosmetics when the acne is ripe or has yellow or white
pus. You could end up infecting the area.
Avoid plucking or pressing out the acne. This
will only result in the acne leaving a wound which could get
infected and leave scars.
What Should I Do?
Try and wash your face with warm water and a
mild soap. After washing pat your face dry and never scrub the
towel on your face.
Use natural soaps that contain natural products
like oil, lye and water.
Ask your chemist for soaps that contain
anti-acne properties. Look for soaps that contain
hypoallergenic or non-comedogenic. They are anti acne and will
prevent further acne problems.
Consult your dermatologist if the acne is bad.
Your dermatologist will be your best source for treatment for
ace.
Finally have a healthy eating and sleeping
habit. Eat well and eat a nutritious diet consisting of fruits,
vegetables and water. Sleep is also an important aspect to
having a healthy skin. Sleep deprivation causes the skin to
tire and thus produces acne.
Teenage acne problems should not take the joy
out of living your teens well. A beautiful skin is not all that
difficult to maintain. Enjoy your life, it's worth it.
